Sixty5
The Sixty5 residential building is located in the Spoorzone development location in the Netherlands. The iconic industrial heritage forms the basis for the restructuring of the former factory site into a dynamic urban district.
Many old buildings in the city are already being used for different purposes. These transformed buildings, together with the new construction, form a new urban fabric. The architects completed 105 homes in Sixty5, from studios to large luxury apartments, intended for both young and older city residents.
With a height of 82 feet on the street side, Sixty5 fits in perfectly with the adjacent buildings. The stepped part of the building above then provides the building volume and distance to the chimney.
The concrete facade elements refer to the aforementioned industrial heritage of the city. A plank relief has been applied to the facade elements - a reference to the concrete formwork of various old buildings on the strip. The frames are remarkably slim; they have a green color that also points to the area's industrial past. Sixty5 fits perfectly into the unity of the street scene, including a nod to the rich history of Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
