Iron Horse
This beautiful lakeside home is located in Kalispell, Montana. This residence is perfectly situated between the trees with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains ahead.
Kalispell is in northwest Montana and is a gateway to the extensive Glacier National Park. This small city is known for its ski resorts, hiking trails, lakes, and golf courses. It is the ultimate getaway. Altius Designer Group, located in northwest Montana, specializes in designing homes that are considered "mountain modern". The Iron Horse home is just that- with its large open floor plans, expansive glass windows, and industrial features.
Exterior
In order to incorporate the 'mountain' feel, this residence utilizes earthy materials such as timber and stone. The 'modern' aspect is brought in with the use of large aluminum windows and doors and flat rooflines. The window and door frames are painted with a black matt powder coat- a perfect solution for renovation of the industrial steel look. These contrasting design families blend to create a unique home, perfect for western living in the twenty-first century.
Windows and light
When people are surrounded by these mountain and lake views, all they want to do is constantly take in the beauty. This is why the owners and architects chose to have numerous large windows with minimal sightlines in the design. Three different Reynaers Aluminium's systems are used throughout this home: SlimLine 38 windows, Concept System 77 swing doors, and Concept Folding 77 sliding systems. Each product was chosen for its design and high performance. Additionally, these windows take advantage of all of the natural light making the house feel airy and sunny.
Indoor/Outdoor living
Iron Horse is ideal for those who want to enjoy the outdoors year-round. The backyard has a spacious two-story patio that can be accessed from the living room and bedrooms with Reynaers' aluminum doors. The folding doors utilize the first leaf as an entrance door without affecting the folding capacity of the system. The patio is complete with a dining table, hot tub, lounge chairs, and fireplace. The inside of the home has the capability to invite the outdoors in: the windows incorporate various openings like tilt & turn and bottom-hung windows to allow the fresh mountain air inside the house.
